Today, seven teams of students from five high schools in the Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey regions competed in a business pitch challenge hosted by the Philadelphia Eagles and Firstrust Bank. The competition served as the culmination of the Entrepreneurs Game Plan powered by EVERFI program, a digital learning platform implemented in 40 area high schools that uses case studies, interactive business simulations, and personal development activities to prepare students for a bright and prosperous future.

Thirty-five business pitches were submitted, and the top seven were selected to present their ideas on Wednesday, April 26, at the Firstrust Bank Club at Lincoln Financial Field. The finalists included students from Cherokee High School, Cherry Hill High School West, Springfield Township High School, West York Area High School and William Penn High School.

Chic Masks, a makeup removal face mask company created by students from Springfield High School, earned the top spot in the pitch challenge and scored $2,500 for their school.Ā

To prepare for the challenge, each team was given a coach from Firstrust and the Eagles. The coaches offered individualized advice and support to develop the initial submissions for the final competition.Ā

The pitches were judged by a panel of executives from Firstrust and the Eagles, including Richard J. Green, executive chairman of Firstrust Bankā€™s Board of Directors; Frank Gumienny, SVP, chief operating officer of the Philadelphia Eagles; Eagles Legend Jason Avant; and Ariana Minella, Implementation Lead for EVERFI.

ā€œWe are grateful to have partnered once again with Firstrust Bank - an organization that shares our commitment to providing young students in our community opportunities to succeed and thrive,ā€ said Frank Gumienny, Chief Operating Officer, Philadelphia Eagles. ā€œEntrepreneurs Game Plan has equipped these young professionals with the foundations of entrepreneurship and inspired them to think creatively through innovative learning programs. These students have bright futures ahead of them.ā€

ā€œWeā€™re fostering the next generation of business leaders through Entrepreneurs Game Plan and equipping them with the mindset and skills necessary to navigate an ever-changing world with creativity, resilience and a sense of purpose,ā€ said Richard J. Green, executive chairman of Firstrust Bankā€™s Board of Directors. ā€œThe young entrepreneurs that presented their business ideas in the pitch challenge showed passion and professionalism that excites me for their future as leaders in our community.ā€Ā

The six other finalist groups also received prize money for their schools. JersEaZe, a customizable jersey company created by students from West York Area High School, placed second and received $1,500. Permit Frenzy, a driving class/learning app created by students from Springfield High School, placed third and received $1,000. Rent a Rover, a dog rental business created by students from Cherokee High School, Tidal Wave Rentals, a beach activity business created by Cherry Hill West High School, Biz Kits, a child entrepreneurship program created by students from Springfield High School, and Bearcat Manufacturing, a custom products business created by students from William Penn High School, each received $500. All student finalists received swag packs from Firstrust and the Eagles and a tour of the Eaglesā€™ locker room and field.

In addition to developing a new business idea and pitch, students participating in the Entrepreneurs Game Plan program learned how to save startup capital and balance a budget, what it means to be an entrepreneur and how to recognize business opportunities.Ā
